The Inner Coil is an electroacoustic body formed by cello, vibraphone, timpani, percussion and modular synthesis. Annie Aries, Nicola Romanò, Sebastian Hofmann and Martin Lorenz interlock acoustic instruments, electronics and space into a single pulsating organism.

Using magnetic pickups and tube amplifiers, the inner mechanics of the instruments are exposed and amplified. Feedback thickens into static planes, grows into walls of sound, begins to oscillate, tremble and breathe. Noise becomes pulse, becomes an electrifying beat that slowly emerges and dissolves.
Annie Aries’ modular synthesizer moves between imitation and transformation, between generative systems and physical gesture. It mirrors, distorts and resynthesizes the instrumental sounds until the boundary between acoustic and electronic collapses.

The music of The Inner Coil is less a composition than a state of being: an immersive field of pressure, resonance and instability. A sonic experience not only to be heard, but physically inhabited – oscillating between control and loss of control, intimacy and overload.
